The Columbia County Fair Board is currently accepting applications for additional board members. If you’re interested in becoming a fair board member please fill out the application on the right of this page or download a copy to print off and submit it to the board secretary via email or send to the mailing address posted below.

Items to consider before submitting your application are as follows:

A board member position is a year round commitment. We meet 11 times a year on the third Monday of each month (no meeting in November). Time and meeting location vary throughout the year, and we expect you to make every effort to attend every meeting.

Board members are strictly volunteer positions, with the exception of two paid officer positions, (very small stipend for the time involved in their tasks).

This is not an elected position, rather it’s an appointed position. You are appointed by the current board of directors on an up or down vote. The board may or may not go into a “closed session” to discuss your application. You are appointed to a three-year term (shorter if you are finishing a term from a member that has resigned). You are under no obligation to fulfill your complete term, however you must submit your resignation in writing to the board president as soon as you are able.

As a board member you are required to be available for the entire fair, including several days before and after. You will be required to make yourself available for any task that needs attention and completion. During fair week you can expect very long days, some being as long as 14-16 hours.

As a board member you are encouraged to attend the two district meetings held in the spring and fall each year, location and dates will be determined. You are also encouraged to attend the Wisconsin Fair Association convention which is a three day event held in January. locations and dates will be determined.
